|Border guards in Binh Phuoc seize 70kg of illegal firecrackers
The incident started when officers operating at the Hoa Lu International Border Gate and border guards in Binh Phuoc province noticed a suspicious white truck at 6:00 on November 30. The vehicle was travelling from Cambodia into Vietnam as the respective forces were on duty at national border milestone 73/5 in Thanh Bien hamlet of Loc Thanh commune in Loc Ninh district.
Upon conducting a search of the vehicle, police successfully discovered approximately five tonnes of scrap metal, in addition to over 70kg of various types of firecrackers.
After questioning the truck’s driver, 42-year-old Nguyen Nhu Hiep failed to provide any papers proving the origin of the goods.
He also confessed to being hired by an unknown individual to transport 70kg of firecrackers into the country.
The case remains under further investigation.
