Responding to one of VOV reporters on March 15, Nguyen Huu Hiep, vice chairman of Muong Ang district People’s Committee said samples taken from a pig farm in Huoi Cam hamlet, Bung Lao commune, Muong Ang district tested positive for ASF virus.

According to Mr Hiep, a local resident in Huoi Cam hamlet visited a relative in Rang Dong commune, Tuan Giao district on March 1 and brought pork home to eat, causing the epidemic spread to the flock of pigs in his household. However, the ASF infestation was not declared at this time at Tuan Giao district.

On the morning of March 15, eight pigs were found dead while several others were reported sick. Local authorities have called for the cull of these pigs according to the regulations.

With the numbers of more than 100 pigs in Huoi Cam hamlet, Muong Ang district, Muong Ang district has devised a plan to cull all the pigs to stamp out the epidemic.
