The man became the first COVID-19 case discovered in the northern province of Ninh Binh when he was admitted to hospital on March 7.
Despite testing positive for the COVID-19 in Ninh Binh province, the patient is a resident of Thai Binh province and had recently returned to the country from epidemic-hit Daegu in the Republic of Korea on March 4.
Chu Thi Giang, deputy director of Ninh Binh provincial General Hospital, said the patient has since tested negative for the virus three times on March 14, March 16, and March 18.
Upon his release on March 20, the patient was confirmed to be displaying no symptoms of fever, a cough, or shortness of breath.
He will now move to his home where he will be quarantined for a further 14 days as required.
The patient sent his sincere thanks to medical staff working at Ninh Binh provincial General Hospital who worked to cure him.
