Vietnam-US relations developing well, Foreign Ministry spokesperson

VOV.VN - Vietnam and the US will hold a range of activities in their respective countries to mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said at a regular press conference in Hanoi on July 2.

She said the two sides are to exchange delegations, organize workshops and talks on bilateral relations, and carry out many economic and trade activities. They will also organize meetings with the Vietnamese community in the US, visit Vietnamese and US localities, and conduct art exchanges.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, these events will be organized in a flexible and suitable manner, Hang said.

After 25 years into diplomatic relations and six years into the comprehensive partnership, relations between Vietnam and the US have made positive progress both bilaterally and multilaterally on the basis of the principles of respect for each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political institutions, the spokesperson noted.  

The two sides have maintained regular bilateral meetings and exchanges of delegations at all levels, maintained dialogue mechanisms, strengthened relations in the fields of economy, trade, settlement of postwar consequences, security - defense, science - technology, education - training, as well as cooperation in addressing regional and international issues.

In the coming time, the two sides will continue to work closely to deepen the Vietnam-US relations, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large, Hang emphasized.
