On November 6, top Chinese leader Xi Jinping and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong delivered speeches at the 16th Vietnam-China Youth Friendship Meeting in Hanoi as part of Xi Jinping’s trip to Vietnam.
Speaking at the meeting, Party chief Trong highlighted the ties of traditional friendship, neighborliness, comradeship and fraternity nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and President Mao Zedong and generations of the two countries as a valuable common asset.
“Despite the ups and downs, we have reaped great success and recorded significant achievements as positive contributions to peace and prosperity in the region. That is a practical lesson for us to write to the new pages in relations between the two Parties and the two countries and the two peoples,” Trong said.
The 65- year achievements are attributable to the great contributions of the young generations ,which have helped foster the relationship between the two nations, Trong said while voicing his hope that the younger generation would promote the values of the Vietnam-China friendship and neighborliness to pass on from generation to generation.
For his part, Chinese President Xi Jinping hailed the 65th anniversary of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations as a special occasion to commemorate revolutionary ancestors, recall unforgettable years towards building a better future of bilateral relations.
“President Ho Chi Minh was a close friend of the Chinese people and he was instrumental in building the China-Vietnam friendship. China will continue to spur mutually beneficial cooperation with neigbouring nations including Vietnam. China will be forever dear comrades of the socialist countries, trustworthy and sincere partners of the developing countries,” Xi Jinping added.
