Vietnam wishes to develop partnership with Bangladesh

VOV.VN -Vietnam always pays heed to developing partnership with Bangladesh, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said at an October 31 reception in Hanoi for new Bangladeshi Ambassador to Vietnam Samina Naz.

He expressed delight at the flourishing bilateral ties over the past 44 years, while congratulating Bangladeshi people on their remarkable achievements in socio-economic development, poverty reduction and living condition improvements.

Both nations have given each other fine sentiments and offered mutual support during their past struggles for independence as well as current national construction and development, Phuc said.

The government leader said Vietnam and Bangladesh are enjoying fruitful economic cooperation, with two-way trade increasing from 93 million in 2009 to US$609 million in 2016. He expressed hope that Bangladesh will import more Vietnamese goods, including farm produce, aquatic products, consumer goods, and materials.

The two countries boast huge potential for cooperation in infrastructure, telecommunications, and fish farming. Vietnam is making every effort to improve its investment environment to attract more investors, including those from Bangladesh, he told his guest.

For her part, Ambassador Naz affirmed the support from the Government and people of Bangladesh given to Vietnam in its national defence, construction and development.

The diplomat said her nation regards Vietnam as an example of socio-economic development and wishes to welcome more Vietnamese investors, particularly in traditional areas and telecommunications.
