Vietnam People's Army Chief praises defence ties with Japan

VOV.VN - Effective defence cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, including the ties between the two ground forces, has made significant contributions to the bilateral friendship.

Sen. Lieut. Gen. Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), made the statement while receiving Chief of Staff of the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force Gen. Koji Yamazaki in Hanoi on January 8.

Gen. Koji Yamazaki expressed his delight at his visit to Vietnam to get a better understanding about Vietnamese land and people and the VPA.

During his earlier talks with Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the VPA Lieut. Gen. Pham Hong Huong, both sides discussed cooperation orientations between the two forces, especially their involvement in United Nations peacekeeping missions, humanitarian relief, disaster settlement and military medicine collaboration.

They briefed each other on ground force' operations, and defence policies,  and compared notes on regional and international issues of shared concern.
