Welcoming the guests, deputy head of the NA deputies’ delegation of the city Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue expressed his delight at the growing Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership in various fields. He noted the two countries have organised many mutual visits between their leaders and representatives of businesses and legislative bodies to discuss ways to promote bilateral ties.
Vietnam always considers the US an important partner, especially in trade and investment, and hopes to continue promoting the comprehensive partnership on the basis of respect for each other’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political regime, for the sake of both countries and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, Khue noted.
The legislator added as an economic, cultural, scientific and technological hub of Vietnam, HCM City has carried out cooperation activities with US partners. It has welcomed many delegations from the US and also been a venue for many key joint programmes and projects in investment and education.
The visit by the US legislative assistants not only reflects their country’s attention to the city but will also help foster collaboration between the two countries’ legislative bodies and the bilateral comprehensive partnership, he said.
On behalf of the US delegation, Terra Lynn Sabag – Deputy Chief of Staff for Congressman Rick Larsen – said their working trip to Vietnam, including HCM City, aims to help further develop the countries’ cooperation.
The delegation includes assistants of many US congressmen, but all of them share the view on the importance of reinforcing US-Vietnam relations in all aspects, including between the legislatures, she noted.
She expressed her hope that there will be more delegation exchanges between the two sides’ legislative bodies in the coming time so as to help promote mutual understanding and cooperation opportunities.
During their stay in HCM City, the US delegation will visit the American Chamber of Commerce, the Intel company, the Fulbright University Vietnam, and the historical relic site of Cu Chi Tunnels.
