|National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan (L) meets President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Heng Samrin.
Meeting with Samdech Heng Samrin, the Vietnamese NA leader urged the Cambodian National Assembly to direct relevant Cambodian agencies to collaborate with Vietnamese counterparts to speed up the finalization of land border demarcation and marker planting, saying that 84% of the workload in this field has been finalized so far.
Ngan hailed Cambodia’s thorough preparation for APPF-27 and expressed her delight at the fruitful and comprehensive development of the bilateral relations across a variety of fields, especially after Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s visit to Vietnam in December last year.
Ngan said she hopes the two law-making bodies will maintain delegation exchange and learn experience from each other.
She suggested the Cambodian National Assembly continue helping the Vietnamese community settle down in the country of residence, and facilitate Vietnamese enterprises’ business and investment operations as a contribution to Cambodia’s socio-economic development as well as bilateral ties.
In reply, Heng Samrin was appreciative of the outcomes of the APPF-26 held in Vietnam in 2018, and experience shared by the Vietnamese NA in hosting the event.
He congratulated Vietnam on the outstanding achievements in the national construction and development, adding that both nations have closely cooperated at multilateral and bilateral forums in recent times. The two legislatures have offered a lot of cooperative mechanisms and intensified all-level delegation exchange.
The Cambodian NA President thanked the Vietnamese NA for helping his country train human resources in the information and technical areas, as well as for the funding of the NA House project in Cambodia.
Through NA Chairwoman Ngan, Heng Samrin extended New Year greetings to Party and State leaders and people of Vietnam, and said he will visit Vietnam at an appropriate time to discuss specific measures to foster traditional friendship and all-around cooperation between the two nations.

At the meeting with President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Say Chhum, Ngan expressed her appreciation for Cambodia’s preparation for the APPF-27 and her elation at the vigorous growth of Cambodia.
She applauded activities held by Vietnam in early January to mark the 40th anniversary of Vietnam’s victory in the southwest border defence war and the joint victory of Vietnam and Cambodia over the genocidal Pol Pot regime.
The anniversary gave an occasion for the two countries to spread the truth about a period of history, in which both sides fought side by side, thus making the people, especially the young generation, realise their responsibility for preserving this valuable treasure for later generations, NA Chairwoman Ngan said.
She thanked the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the Cambodian Senate for dispatching a high-level delegation led by Senate Vice President Tep Ngorn to Vietnam to attend the ceremony to mark this event, saying the delegation’s presence has demonstrated warm sentiment and solidarity from the Cambodian people towards the Vietnamese people and former volunteer soldiers and experts who had performed their international mission in Cambodia.
The NA Chairwoman affirmed that Vietnam will do its utmost together with Cambodia to preserve and develop the “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and long-term, sustainable and comprehensive cooperation” between the two countries, not only for the prosperity of each nation but also for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world as a whole.
Senate President Say Chhum said the participation of the Vietnamese delegation in the APPF-27 will contribute to the event’s success and reinforce the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries and two NAs.
He noted with joy the development of bilateral ties and at the Vietnamese NA leader’s assessment about Cambodia’s socio-economic development.
Say Chhum said he wishes the relationship between the two legislative bodies would grow and flourish, thus adding impetus to the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
