Timor-Leste PM visits HCM City

(VOV) - Ho Chi Minh City Municipal People’s Committee Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam has reiterated the locality’s desire to expand cooperative ties with Timor-Leste.

During a September 5 reception for its visiting Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, Tam briefed her guest on the city’s socio-economic development and expressed hopes the PM’s Vietnam visit will propel multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in general and between HCM City and Timor-Leste in particular.

She said bilateral development has yet to reflect the two countries’ true potential and two-way trade remains modest.

PM Gusmão applauded HCM City’s achievements and affirmed his desire to promote Timor-Leste’s relationship with the city in whatever way possible.

Timor Leste wants to learn from HCM City’s urban planning and local administrative experience, the PM said.

PM Gusmão and his entourage reserved time for touring the city’s War Remnants Museum during their visit.
