Party official: Shanghai, Vietnamese localities should step up cooperation

VOV.VN -Politburo member and Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Van Binh had a meeting on April 18 with Li Qiang, Politburo member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Secretary of the Shanghai Party Committee as part of his April 15-19 working visit to China.

At the meeting, Binh who is also Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Economic Affairs, briefed his host on Vietnam’s socio-economic development over the past years and applauded Shanghai’s achievements during its reform and development process. 

Binh suggested Shanghai city should beef up cooperation with Vietnamese localities and improve the efficiency of pragmatic cooperation in economics, trade, tourism and culture while affirming Vietnam’s readiness to offer the best possible conditions for Shanghai businesses to invest in major projects adopting high technology in line with the country’s sustainable development needs.

Li Qiang in turn, updated Binh on Shanghai’s socio-economic situation, introduced reform experiences and cooperative relations between Vietnam and Shanghai, and discussed ways to augment bilateral cooperation in the time to come.

During its stay in Shanghai, the CPV delegation made fact-finding tours of Shanghai’s new economic development model in Pudong, and the city’s free-trade zone and businesses.
