Chief Le Thanh Hai and leaders of the HCM City Party Standing Committee welcomed them warmly and expressed their pleasure when State President and Prime Minister saw them on the final day of the old year, prepared to enter a new lunar year.
Mr. Hai reported to the Party and the State leaders that this Tet holiday the city spent over VND200 billion to look after poor people and the families of beneficiaries. HCM City also lent 13 businesses VND422 billion with no interest for 6 months to prepare enough of the 8 most essential goods to serve people during Tet holiday.
Thanks to this assistance, the Tet market this year is relatively stable, many prices of goods have not increased and some even decreased by 3-5 percent against normal days. The city’s public order is firmly ensured.
Talking with HCM City’s leaders, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung confirmed that under the guideline of the Party, the management of the State and the efforts of all the people, Vietnam has gained many important achievements in all fields over the year which contributed to increasing Vietnam’s position in the international arena, despite its socio-economic situation still facing some difficulties.
The PM also emphasised HCM City made great contributions to this success but apart from its achievements, some existing limitations and weakness need to be overcome. After the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, the PM and central departments will work with the city’s leaders to create measures to hasten the implementation of key transportation infrastructure construction, solve traffic jams and combat flooding.
Mr. Dung hoped HCM City would continue to deploy good methods and gain greater achievements in socio-economic development, deserving the trust of the Party, the State and people throughout the country.
He wished the HCM City Party Standing Committee, authorities and people a new year full of good health, happiness, prosperity and success.
