Leaders pay tribute to war martyrs

A delegation of the Party Central Committee, State President’s Office, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front on July 26 paid a floral tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh and war martyrs on the occasion of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).

The delegation included former Party General Secretaries Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, former NA Chairman Nguyen Van An and other Party and State leaders.

** On the same day, delegations of the Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Public Security, and Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Hanoi municipal Party Committee and People’s Committee, as well as socio-political organisations paid tributes to President Ho Chi Minh and war martyrs.

** Also on July 26, Party Politburo member To Huy Rua visited Thuan Thanh convalescent home for war invalids in Bac Ninh Province and praised the efforts of the soldiers.

He said they had made remarkable contributions to the war for national salvation.

On behalf of the Party and State, he presented gifts to 97 residents living in the centre, 90 of whom were in wheel chairs.

Meanwhile, Truong Thi Mai, Head of the National Assembly Committee for Social Affairs, paid a visit to Convalescent Home No 2, in Vien An, Ung Hoa District, Hanoi.

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union organized many activities nationwide to show deep gratitude to combatants.

Thousands of “gratitude houses” have been built for heroic mothers, war martyrs’ families and war invalids.
