VOV.VN - Despite a fall in the number of positive novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases over the past two days, every citizen should remain vigilant whilst carrying out preventative measures in line with proposed regulations, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a cabinet meeting on COVID-19 prevention and control in Hanoi on April 6.

PM Phuc outlined the need to rigorously carry out government Directives No 15 and No 16 regarding epidemic prevention and control which has so far proved to be effective due to the active involvement of people from across the country. He expressed his appreciation for citizens in localities which have made efforts to implement social distancing policies under the guidance of relevant agencies.

The cabinet leader noted the necessity of continuing to put forward scientific measures in order to strengthen treatment, whilst simultaneously offering the best service possible.

Regarding disadvantaged people who are suffering from the various impacts of the epidemic, PM Phuc stated that the government has been discussing a draft resolution on a social welfare package, in addition to agreeing on many important issues which relate to support guidelines, subsidy beneficiaries, timescale, and subsidy levels.

The government has also requested that the Standing Committee of the National Assembly consider and offer their opinions on a number of issues under the authority of the legislature before any bailout package is offered, PM Phuc added.

The PM is poised to chair this week's national online conference with localities as they discuss solutions for removing any hurdles faced by businesses, clearing barriers which hamper production, accelerating the disbursement of public investment, and ensuring security and order is maintained.
