Foreign Ministry delegation works with Liaison Committee for Overseas Laotians

VOV.VN - A delegation from the Foreign Ministry of Vietnam, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister and head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Nguyen Quoc Cuong, had a working session with the Liaison Committee for Overseas Laotians in Vientiane on May 20.

During the working session, both sides compared notes on issues of shared concern and consented to push ahead with cooperation and experience exchange on works related to their overseas citizens. They pledged the best possible conditions for the groups to stabilize their life towards greater contributions to the nations’ socio-economic development and special ties.

Lao Deputy Foreign Minister Khamphau Onthavan applauded Vietnamese nationals’ positive contributions to Laos’ national construction and development as well as recent progress of the Vietnam – Laos ties.

She urged both committees step up their collaboration as a way of further fostering special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation

The official affirmed the Lao Party and State’s readiness to offer the best possible conditions for Vietnamese expatriates to live and integrate into the local society.
Cuong suggested the two nations continue effectively realizing signed agreements and work out specific cooperation plans to facilitate the overseas groups’ stable life.

He also thanked the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other agencies for supporting the overseas Vietnamese community in Lao.

Earlier, the delegation paid a courtesy call to Lao Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, who asserted that the Vietnamese community in Laos has acted as an important bridge for the enhancement of special Vietnam-Laos ties.

It also worked with the General Vietnamese Association in Laos and visited the Vietnamese Embassy as part of the Lao visit from May 19-21.
