Earlier at a meeting on September 15 with World Trade Organization’s Director-General Roberto Azevedo, his Deputy Karl Brauner, and General Council Chair, Xavier Carim, the Deputy Prime Minister explored WTO latest development direction and called for WTO support in Vietnam’s international economic integration.
He praised the WTO important role in global trade facilitation and reiterated Vietnam’s WTO commitments while supporting WTO initiatives in line with Vietnam’s development level.
The WTO executives agreed upon further technical support for Vietnam’s international economic integration and welcomed Vietnam’s contribution to global trade liberalization.
The same day, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue met with President of the Geneva Financial Centre (GFC) Yves Mirabaud and GFC Director Edouard Cuendet later the same day. He briefed his hosts on Vietnam’s policies on security, insurance, banking and state-owned companies.
Both sides discussed the future possibility of the GFC supporting Vietnam in accessing sources off funding, enhancing its capacity in managing financial institutions in compliance with international standards, and building a financial centre.
The deputy PM urged the GFC to expand relations with financial associations in Vietnam and share experience in the field with them.
He ended the trip to Switzerland and left for the visit to Belgium and the EU.
