China hails Vietnam visit by Xi Jinping

China hopes Vice President Xi Jinping’s visit to Vietnam will help raise the ties between the two countries to a new level, said spokesperson Liu Weimin.

Answering questions from a VOV correspondent in Beijing on December 19, Liu said Mr Xi will hold talks and meetings with Vietnamese leaders to exchange ideas on deepening ties between the two Parties and countries, and discuss major regional and international issues of mutual concern.

According to Liu, Vietnam-China ties have continued to develop well since the two sides established diplomatic relations 61 years ago. They have now set up a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, which provides practical benefits for people in both countries.

Liu added that during Xi Jinping’s visit, China and Vietnam will also sign a number of agreements related to health care, the economy, and trade.
