Ho Chi Minh City has revived a District 1 underground parking project nine years after its construction was originally scheduled to begin.
In an effort to find parking space, Hanoi is planning to ask people owning downtown properties to find space for parking lots.
The Hanoi People’s Committee has proposed regulations related to underground parking space in high-rises to the municipal People’s Council, which will be approved in a meeting in July.
A dearth of available parking space in Ho Chi Minh City has caused taxi drivers to stop wherever they can and occupy roads citywide, despite no-parking signs and traffic cops ready to hand out fines.
A parking space can cost up to hundreds of millions or even up to nearly VND1 billion at Hanoi’s modern apartments.
