The document drafting board at expert level of the 13th APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting (FMM13) held its first session in Hanoi on September 4 to reach a consensus on Joint Ministerial Statements (JMS) and related appendixes.

This session presided over by Vietnamese Finance Minster Vu Van Ninh is part of the 13th APEC Finance MinistersMeeting (FMM13) which is taking place in Hanoi from September 4-8.

At the session, delegates agreed upon the main content of the FMM13 with a focus on promoting the efficiency and sustainability of public finance towards stable and effective revenue and reforming the financial sector to attract circulating capital.

Meanwhile, delegations from the US, New Zealand, Chile, Australia, Japan, China and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stressed the need to restart the deadlocked Doha round of talks. The US said that countries should pledge to restart the round of talks and make necessary breakthroughs in opening agriculture and non-agriculture markets.

Chile also shared the view that apart from opening markets, barriers to domestic markets will be removed.

As planned, the APEC Deputy Finance Ministers’ Meeting and the APEC Deputy Bank Governors’ Meeting will officially open on September 5.
