VOV.VN - Over the past week, health officials in the central highlands Dak Lak Province have identified more than a dozen cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, an illness commonly seen in children.
Abnormal weather has resulted in increases in infectious diseases, especially dengue fever, diarrhoea and hand-foot-mouth disease in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak since the beginning of May.
Doctors called for better personal hygiene and nutrition among children to prevent and fight against hand-foot-mouth disease, especially during the period from March to May, which typically sees the biggest spread of the disease each year in Vietnam.
Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFM) in Ho Chi Minh City has developed at an alarming rate, with 143 new cases recorded per week on average, the municipal Health Department has said, calling for more efforts to improve the situation.
