Authorities in Hanoi have come up with a plan that would involve all the 19,000 taxis currently operating in the city to be repainted in one of two colors.
As many as 62 new bus routes will be launched in Hanoi by 2020 to meet the local demand and reduce traffic jams, according to Ha Huy Quang, Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Transportation.
Coach operators who are not following changes in the bus routes as instructed by Hanoi’s transport authority would be forced to halt operations for a month.
Major changes in the bus routes from the capital are to go into effect on January 2, said the deputy director of the city’s Transport Department, Ha Huy Quang. The changes are intended to reduce congestion.
Bus fares in Hanoi will continue to rise after more cuts to government subsidies, Ha Huy Quang, Deputy Director of Hanoi’s Transport Department said at a press conference on May 31.
The Hanoi Department of Transport works to reduce the number of buses on roads where construction sites are located, to ease traffic congestion during rush hours, from November 14.
