Cities and provinces have been asked to tighten control of epidemics, especially blue ear pig disease, to ensure an adequate supply of food and stabilise market prices in the remaining months of this year.
The hand-foot-mouth disease has spread to northern mountain provinces such as Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, Quang Ninh, and Cao Bang, according to many provincial preventive medicine centres.
Since the beginning of this year, 425 patients have tested positive for the A/H1N1 flu virus, and 11 have died, according to the Preventive Medicine Department under the Ministry of Health (MoH).
In recent years, many provinces have suffered from epidemics, especially digestive-related diseases such as cholera, said Professor Doctor Nguyen Tran Hien, head of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE).
No positive cases of A/H1N1, A/H5N1 or acute diarrhoea have been reported across the country over the past three days, the Ministry of Health (MoH) says.
