During its week-long sitting, the congress will review the implementation of the previous congress’ resolutions, socio-economic development tasks in the 2001-2005 period and the Doi Moi (Renewal) process over the past 20 years, as well as outline the country’s development targets, tasks and orientations in the next five years. It will also discuss the Party building work and supplements to the Party Rules, and elect the Party Central Committee for the new tenure.
Vietnamese people look forwards to the guidelines and orientations to be drawn up by the congress to increase the leadership capacity and combative strength of the Party, develop the aggregate strength of the entire nation, and accelerate the Renewal process comprehensively to bring Vietnam out of the underdeveloped status.
A communiqué released at the end of the 15th conference of the Party Central Committee on April 16 affirmed the strong determination of the entire Party and State to crack down on corruption and other negative phenomena. It asked functional agencies to heighten their responsibilities before the Party, State and people to deal with such cases in a fair and lawful manner. Through these cases, the Party Central Committee has asked agencies to analyse and point out shortcomings in financial and economic management and Party building work, particularly in personnel management, as well as hammer out proper solutions.
In recent weeks, a hectic working atmosphere has prevailed across the country with many new projects put into operation to welcome the country’s largest political event. Through different channels, particularly media agencies, people from all walks of life express their views and opinions on the draft political report to be presented to the congress. The Party Central Committee gathered, studied and made adjustments to the report to turn it into a product crystallising the wisdom of the entire Party and people.
Under the leadership of the Party through the past 76 years, each Party congress has marked a new development period of the Vietnamese revolution. Particularly, since the start of the Doi Moi (Renewal) process initiated at the sixth Party congress in 1986, Vietnam’s role and position has been constantly raised in the international arena. We are totally confident that the 10th National Party Congress will be a great success, marking a milestone in the glorious history of the Party.
