Minister of Public Security Lieut. Gen. Tran Dai Quang is joining other ministers of ASEAN countries in Indonesia to discuss ways of preventing trans-national crime.

The 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC-8), which opened in Bali on October 11, is being attended by ASEAN General Secretary Surin Pitsuwan, police ministers and officials and transnational crime fighters from ASEAN countries, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Delegates will discuss future cooperation within the AMMTC framework, especially cooperation between ASEAN and its dialogue partners, including ASEAN + 3 and ASEAN + China.

They will also exchange views on measures to increase cooperation in the fight against terrorism after the ASEAN Convention on Counter-Terrorism (ACCT) took effect, as well as the fight against human trafficking in Southeast Asia.

Delegates are expected to adopt a joint statement and the minutes of the meeting.
