Vietnam’s tourism promoted in China

Vietnam’s popular destinations and excellent tourism products will be brought closer to Chinese friends through a promotion campaign launched by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) in Guangxi province’s Nanning city and Guangdong province’s Shenzhen city.

The event will take place in the Chinese localities from October 22-27 as part of the national tourism promotion programme in 2018.

Over the past few years, China has been an important market for Vietnamese tourism. There were 4 million Chinese nationals visiting Vietnam in 2017, accounting for 30% of all foreign travellers to Vietnam. In the first nine months of this year, the number of Chinese arrivals to Vietnam surged 29.7%.

Ha Long Bay, Da Nang, and Nha Trang have been the most popular sites amongst Chinese visitors.

Other activities will also be held to promote local tourism, including a project recently approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to organise the Vietnam International Travel Mart-VITM, pushing it as an important international and national tourism event.

From 2020, the fair will take place in April every year, creating opportunities for localities, organisations, and enterprises to popularise their tourism products and develop business. It is also expected to enhance Vietnam’s tourism image, contributing towards developing tourism into a spearhead economy for the nation.

In an effort to promote tourism in the southwest region, the VNAT and travel companies in the north, central, Central Highlands, and south are surveying tourism products in Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, Ca Mau, Soc Trang, and Can Tho from September 28 to October 10.

They will be exploring the famous tourist attractions of Tan Lap floating village, Tan Quy Dong flower village, Tram Chim National Park, and Ba Chua Xu Temple.

During the survey, the VNAT will also chair talks discussing the potential, advantages, and orientation to branch out regional tourism products.
