Vietnam launches tourism website aimed at attracting foreign visitors

VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), along with the Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board (TAB), and Swiss Sustainable Tourism Programme (SSTP), have joined forces to launch a new ‘Green Travel’ section on the national tourism website.

This move will allow foreign visitors to easily access articles dedicated to detailing the best practices for responsible travelers, guides on how to follow Vietnamese customs and local etiquette, along with pieces which highlight several of the country’s lesser-known destinations.

In order to make it easier for travelers to detect local sustainable tourism providers, the webpage also features details of a range of reputable businesses nationwide. Indeed, visitors are able to look up outstanding tours that are educational, ethical, as well as eco-friendly. Alternatively, they can find sustainable accommodations among lodges, homestays, and hotels, whilst discovering souvenirs such as crafts, textiles, and stationery brands that preserve Vietnamese culture whilst supporting local communities.

Furthermore, the section also offers hand-drawn infographics featuring sustainable travel in the nation, along with in-depth stories for those interested in the country’s ethnic minorities and traditional craft villages. As a means of making the experience better for travelers who are planning their trips, a collection of leading tour operators who offer sustainable experiences is also featured.

Moreover, to ensure that listed companies serve as standout examples of practicing both socially and environmentally sustainable tourism, the TAB has sought out the expertise of SSTP consultants. This has been done to research the contents of the Green Travel section in accordance with sustainability criteria first established by SSTP for the local tourism industry.

Moving forward, the national tourism website is poised to debut a range of videos which highlight the country’s leading sustainable tourism assets and outstanding experiences. The page will also host giveaways for sustainable Vietnamese products and holidays through its official social media channels, found under the handle: @vietnamtourismboard.

This comes after the VNAT also launched the webpage ‘Visit Vietnam from Home’ aimed at encouraging travelers to connect with the nation even while the borders are closed due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The website delivers a virtual travel experience, such as 360-degree tours, local recipes, colouring pages, and a number of immersive videos.
