Vietnam Airlines launches Hanoi-Amsterdam air route
VOV.VN - The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on June 16 launched its first direct flight connecting Hanoi and Amsterdam, marking the carrier’s first-ever air route to the Netherlands.
The event further affirms the efforts of Vietnam Airlines in expanding its international flight network and strengthening connections between Vietnam and leading economic, trade, and tourism centres in Europe.
The inaugural direct flight between Hanoi and Amsterdam, operated by a wide-body Airbus A350 aircraft, departed from Noi Bai International Airport at 3:50 a.m. on June 16, carrying nearly 300 passengers.
The flight is expected to land at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands after a 12-hour flight. In the opposite direction, flight VN82 from Amsterdam to Hanoi took off at 2 p.m. (local time) on the same day.
Vietnam Airlines operates the Hanoi - Amsterdam route with a frequency of 3 round-trip flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
“The Hanoi - Amsterdam route reflects Vietnam Airlines' focused development orientation for its international flight network, aiming to bring Vietnamese passengers closer to major centres of the world, while also making it more convenient for international friends during their trips to Vietnam,” Nguyen Quang Trung, deputy general director of Vietnam Airlines, said.
Amsterdam is one of Europe's major air gateways, boasting an extensive network connecting to hundreds of destinations in the region and around the world.
The launch of the direct Hanoi - Amsterdam route by Vietnam Airlines provides passengers with a more convenient option for travel between Vietnam and the Netherlands, while also opening up more flexible access to many destinations in Europe via Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
The new air route brings the total number of direct flights operated by Vietnam Airlines between Vietnam and Europe to 12, covering 8 destinations: Paris, London, Frankfurt, Munich, Milan, Copenhagen, Moscow, and Amsterdam.
Vietnam Airlines' inclusion of Amsterdam in its international route network not only expands the airline's connectivity but also contributes to enhancing Vietnam's position on the global aviation map, creating momentum to promote economic exchange, tourism, and international cooperation in the new era.
In addition, from July 1, 2026, Vietnam Airlines will increase the frequency of flights on the Hanoi - Moscow route from three to four round-trip flights per week to meet the growing travel demand between Vietnam and Russia.
Vietnam Airlines offers 5.5 million domestic seats for summer travel peak
