Soulful Vietnam in the heart of the US

VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), the Hanoi Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre and the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) held a tourism promotion program called “A Soulful Vietnam” in Washington DC on September 19.

The program is part of a series of activities to promote Vietnam tourism in North America and is the largest event of this type held in the US over the last 15 years involving around 35 Vietnamese tour operators and hotels.

VNAT General Director Nguyen Van Tuan said the event takes place in Washington DC and New York with the aim of implementing the Vietnamese tourism marketing strategy, diversifying markets and increasing the number of foreign arrivals to Vietnam.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Ambassador to the US Ha Kim Ngoc emphasized on Vietnam’s tourism potential including beautiful landscapes, traditional cuisine and friendly and hospitable people. In recent years, Vietnam-US relations have developing strongly in all fields, including tourism.

Vietnam has become an attractive destination for foreign tourists, including Americans. Meanwhile, Vietnamese residents in the US also have an increasing demand for visiting their relatives and spending holidays in Vietnam. Thus, the number of US arrivals in Vietnam has grown by 10% annually and reached 614,000 last year.

The country targets to welcome more than 1 million US visitors each year by 2020 when Vietnam Airlines will open direct flights to the US.

It is expected that after the event, a delegation of ASTA tour operators will visit Vietnam to survey market and promote tourism cooperation.
