Saudi travel interest in Vietnam jumps, Korean demand stays robust

VOV.VN - Vietnam has emerged as the fastest-growing destination in travel searches by Saudi Arabian tourists this summer, while continuing to attract strong interest from Korean travelers, highlighting the country’s growing appeal across both the Middle East and Northeast Asia.

According to the latest data from travel platform Wego, Vietnam recorded a 30% year-on-year increase in travel searches from Saudi Arabia during the 2026 summer season, the highest growth among destinations tracked by the company. China ranked second with a 9% increase.

Wego said Saudi travelers are increasingly combining short regional holidays with longer international trips, favouring destinations that offer convenient air connectivity, simplified entry procedures, competitive travel costs and family-friendly experiences.

Against this backdrop, Vietnam has emerged as one of the most attractive destinations for Saudi visitors.

The country has also maintained its strong position in the Korean outbound tourism market.

Meanwhile, data released by online travel platform Agoda on July 28 showed that overseas travel demand among travelers from the Republic of Korea was steady in the first half of 2026, with Vietnam ranking as the second most popular international destination after Japan.

In May alone, approximately 278,000 Korean visitors traveled to Vietnam, reaffirming the RoK’s position as one of Vietnam's largest international source markets. Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc all ranked among Agoda's top 10 most searched overseas destinations by Korean travelers.

Phu Quoc alone posted particularly strong growth, with search demand rising 13% from a year earlier. According to Agoda, the increase was driven largely by new direct air services linking the island with Incheon and Busan, which began operating in April.

The platform also noted that beach destinations such as Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Mui Ne–Phan Thiet and Da Nang continue to attract Korean tourists thanks to their scenic coastlines, expanding resort infrastructure and relatively short flight times.

The latest figures from Wego and Agoda suggest that Vietnam’s tourism appeal continues to strengthen across diverse international markets, from the Middle East to Northeast Asia.
