Nha Trang enjoys influx of visitors from Northeast Asia

VOV.VN - The south central province of Khanh Hoa has seen a rapid rise in the number of foreign tourists from Northeast Asia since the beginning of the year, according to the provincial Department of Tourism.

During the first half of the year, Khanh Hoa welcomed more than 3.4 million visitors, a huge increase of 112 per cent in comparison to the same period from last year.

Of the figure, foreign arrivals reached 1.742 million, up over 124 per cent, while domestic travelers rose slightly to 1.684 million compared to the corresponding period from last year.

The occupancy rate of rooms in June is estimated to be 65 per cent for the three to five star hotel segment, and stands at only 39.5 per cent for the one to two star hotel segment.

Foreign visitors largely focus on luxury and high-end hotels, equipped with modern facilities when visiting Nha Trang city, especially those from Russia and China.

The inflow of visitors from Northeast Asia enjoyed strong growth against the same period last year.

For example, since the beginning of the year, Nha Trang received over 1 million arrivals from China, an increase of 137 per cent, 76,000 visitors from the Republic of Korea, a rise of 319 per cent, and over 4,800 tourists from Japan, up 106 per cent.

Elsewhere, the number of traditional visitors from the UK, France, Germany, the US, Australia, and Canada stood at between 3,500 and 10,000, a fall of 8 to 20 per cent compared to last year’s corresponding period.
