New Dong Hoi–Cam Ranh air route to boost tourism links in Central Vietnam
VOV.VN - Sun Phu Quoc Airways will launch a new air service between Dong Hoi (Quang Tri province) and Cam Ranh (Khanh Hoa province) on August 16 to improve tourism connectivity between Vietnam’s north-central and south-central regions while supporting broader regional travel and tourism development.
According to the Quang Tri provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the new route is being introduced with support from Khanh Hoa province, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and Sun Group as part of efforts to strengthen tourism cooperation and improve regional connectivity.
The airline will operate the route using Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, each with a capacity of around 200 passengers.
The Dong Hoi–Cam Ranh service will operate three round trips per week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights will depart Dong Hoi at 12:05 p.m. and arrive in Cam Ranh at 1:25 p.m., while return services will leave Cam Ranh at 2:05 p.m. and land in Dong Hoi at 3:30 p.m.
At the same time, the airline will begin operating a daily round-trip service between Dong Hoi and Hanoi, creating a more convenient air network linking Hanoi, Dong Hoi and Cam Ranh.
Flights from Hanoi will depart at 10:20 a.m. and arrive in Dong Hoi at 11:25 a.m. Return flights will depart Dong Hoi at 12:05 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The Dong Hoi-Cam Ranh route is expected to help Quang Tri attract more high-spending tourists from southern provinces, while expanding access to international visitor markets.
The integrated Hanoi-Dong Hoi-Cam Ranh network is anticipated to facilitate international arrivals via Hanoi to Quang Tri and other central provinces, linking the region with Khanh Hoa to create a distinctive tourism product, the "Central Heritage Route" — a multi-experience journey through the region's cultural and natural attractions.
The launch is among the first preparations for National Tourism Year – Quang Tri 2027, to support the province's goal of becoming a major tourism hub and to develop Phong Nha-Ke Bang into an international-class destination.
