Local airlines cancel flights due to incoming storm Goni
VOV.VN - The approach of storm Goni has caused several Vietnamese airlines to announce the cancellation or adjustment to the flight schedule on November 5.
The changes have resulted in a total of six flights by the Vietnam Airlines group, including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, and VASCO, travelling to and from Phu Cat in Binh Dinh province and Chu Lai in Quang Nam province, to be subject to cancellations. These changes will affect flights numbered VN1624/1625 between Hanoi and Phu Cat, VN1396/1397 between Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Cat, along with VN1464/1465 between Ho Chi Minh City and Chu Lai.
Flights to and from Tuy Hoa in Phu Yen province, in addition to Chu Lai and Phu Cat airports, will now take off between one and seven hours earlier than previously scheduled.
Both Pacific Airlines and VASCO will be closely monitoring the impact of storm Goni and will adjust their plans if necessary.
The incoming storm has also seen national budget carrier VietJet Air cancel a number of flights taking off to and from Chu Lai and Phu Cat airports on November 5. They included flight VJ372/377 between Ho Chi Minh and Chu Lai, flight VJ415/416 between Hanoi and Chu Lai, and flight VJ382/383 between Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Cat.
For passengers affected by the cancellations, the airlines will offer support and arrange extra seats on different flights over the coming days.
Passengers have also been advised to stay updated on the weather forecast and any news posted by the airlines due to the possibility of changes occurring to their plans.
After battering the Phillipines and churning through the East Sea, Goni, the world’s powerful storm on earth this year, weakened into a tropical depression before making landfall along the south-central coast of Vietnam on November 5.
