Further tourist destinations in Kien Giang reopen to tourists

VOV.VN - Several tourist attractions, including U Minh Thuong National Park, Hang Pagoda, and Hon Phu Tu tourist site in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang have reopened to tourists following a long period of closure due to the impact of COVID-19.

Tran Van Thang, deputy director of U Minh Thuong National Park, said the site is expected to resume receiving visitors from January 20 as part of the province’s wider plans to restore the local tourism industry.

U Minh Thuong National Park is one of the nation’s remaining peat swamp forests and boasts a vast diversity of rare animals and plant species. In addition, it is recognized as one of the three highest priority areas for wetland conservation throughout the Mekong Delta region.

The U Minh Thuong National Park became the country’s fifth biosphere reserve recognised by UNESCO and the eighth Ramsar site nationwide

Furthermore, Hang Pagoda and Hon Phu Tu tourist sites have also made thorough preparations as they prepare to welcome back visitors from January 28, said Ho Van Luc, director of the Centre for Culture, Sports and Radio of Kien Luong district.

Hon Phu Tu tourism complex boasts a variety of caves and rocky mountains which are home to unique shapes and beautiful beaches, earning the nickname the “Ha Long Bay” of the south.

Moreover, the wharf area has been expanded with the scale of between four and five ships to meet the growing travel  demand which will occur during the upcoming Lunar New Year festival.

Tourists will be able to enjoy the opportunity to savour scenic views of Phu Tu island, Hang Pagoda, and enjoy a cruise experience along the beach and to other islands such as Hon Nghe and Ba Hon Dam.

As part of the province's wider tourism development plan, Hang pagoda and Hon Phu Tu Tourist Areas are expected to attract a large number of tourists who will come to relax in future.
