COVID-19: HCM City records nearly 900 new cases over six hours

VOV.VN - An additional 982 locally acquired and an imported coronavirus cases have been detected in 16 cities and provinces across Vietnam during the past six hours, mostly in Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot.

In its 12.00am COVID-19 update on July 13, the Ministry of Health confirmed 886 new local infections in HCM City, 29 in Long An, 27 in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, 12 in Dong Thap, and 11 in Ben Tre.

Elsewhere, four cases were reported in Phu Yen, two each in Quang Ngai, Binh Thuan and Bac Ninh, and one each in Nam Dinh, Nghe An, Bac Giang, Hanoi, Lao Cai, Binh Phuoc and Thanh Hoa.

Meanwhile, a Vietnamese national returning to Nghe An from Thailand also tested positive for the virus on July 13.

Earlier, in its morning update, the MoH announced 466 new cases documented in seven cases, including HCM City that logged 365 new cases alone.

Vietnam has documented 30,136 positive cases in 58 out of all 63 cities and provinces nationwide following the resurgence of the virus on April 27.

HCM City, the busiest and most populous city in Vietnam, took the lead with nearly 16,000 cases.

Overall Vietnam has confirmed a total of 33,648 cases since the virus attacked the country in January 2020.

As many as 9,331 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease.

About 125 patients have died of COVID-19 and other underlying illnesses.

More than 4 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Vietnam, with 280,367 people fully receiving two shots.
