Chinese travel firms upbeat about Vietnam's tourism potential
VOV.VN - More than 50 representatives from Chinese airlines and travel companies have expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation with Vietnamese partners, citing growing demand for travel to Vietnam and opportunities to develop new air routes and tourism products.
The Chinese representatives made the assessments at a business networking event recently held in Vietnam's south-central province of Khanh Hoa that brought together tourism businesses from major Chinese economic hubs, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing.
They highlighted a familiarization trip that took them to a range of tourism attractions across Khanh Hoa and neighbouring areas, including cultural, eco-tourism and luxury resort destinations.
The Chinese representatives spoke highly of the potential for tourism development in Vietnam in general and in Khanh Hoa in particular. They also praised the province's accommodation facilities, aviation infrastructure and high-quality tourism services.
Luo Linfeng, International Business Manager of 9 Air, said the airline hopes to work with Vietnamese authorities and business partners to study the launch of additional direct air services while developing tourism products tailored to Chinese travelers.
Meanwhile, Chen Haibin, general manager of China Peace International Tourism (Guangzhou Branch), revealed the company is considering a new travel itinerary linking Ho Chi Minh City, Mui Ne and Nha Trang, targeting higher-spending travelers seeking more diverse experiences.
“The itinerary combines diverse travel experiences, from exploring the vibrant urban lifestyle of Ho Chi Minh City and enjoying adventure activities such as sandboarding in Mui Ne to relaxing at luxury beach resorts in Nha Trang. We believe this product will strongly appeal to high-spending travelers from the Guangzhou market,” Chen said.
Guan Lin, general manager of Longtu Chongqing International Travel Service, expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s remarkable tourism achievements, adding that Nha Trang possesses outstanding competitive advantages among Southeast Asian beach destinations. He expected to cooperate with Vietnamese partners to develop high-quality tourism products for travelers from Chongqing.
Taking the floor, Truong Van Tien, director of the Khanh Hoa Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre, emphasised that the programme provided an opportunity for Chinese tour operators to experience local tourism products firsthand and explore new partnerships with Vietnamese businesses.
According to Tien, around 8,000 direct flights have connected Chinese cities with Khanh Hoa since the beginning of 2025, reflecting the market's significant growth potential. He hoped that the event would help strengthen business cooperation, expand international air connectivity and attract more visitors through Cam Ranh International Airport.
The Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported that the province welcomed approximately 11.9 million visitors in the first six months of 2026, up 41.6% year on year. International arrivals reached more than 4.6 million, an increase of 66.1%, including more than 335,000 visitors from China.
