120 int’l content creators help Da Nang tell tourism story to the world
VOV.VN - More than 120 content creators from over 20 countries and territories have recently spent five days exploring Da Nang’s culture, cuisine, nature and tourism services, creating their own stories and sharing them with international audiences through digital platforms.
From August 21 to 25, the creators took part in a tourism experience programme organised by the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in cooperation with online travel platform Klook. The group included creators working in tourism, lifestyle, entertainment and food from markets across Asia, Europe and the United States.
The programme is notable not only for its scale but also for its approach - destination promotion through firsthand experiences and personal storytelling by creators who have already established audiences in different international markets.
From experiencing destinations to telling their own stories
During the five-day journey, the creators explored a range of destinations, including Hoi An Ancient Town, the My Son Sanctuary, Bay Mau Coconut Forest, Ngu Hanh Son Scenic Area, Linh Ung Pagoda and Sun World Ba Na Hills.
They also experienced hotels and resorts in the area, gaining a closer look at accommodation, hospitality and leisure products that can be introduced to different types of travelers and markets.
Rather than simply receiving prepared promotional information, the creators were able to see, experience and interpret the destinations themselves.
Their content is being shared across popular platforms including TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, allowing the same destination to be presented through different languages, interests and personal perspectives.
A network of storytellers for digital tourism
The programme forms part of Da Nang’s efforts to attract and develop a network of content creators as part of its wider “Da Nang Storytellers” campaign, built around the message “Your Da Nang – Your Stories.”
As of August, the programme had attracted 219 applications from Vietnam and international markets including the United States, Spain, France, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia and India. Around 23% of applicants had audiences across at least three social media platforms.
The approach gives each creator not only a destination to promote, but also a distinct community to speak to.
A beach resort, for example, may be presented differently by a travel creator, a food blogger or a lifestyle influencer. This allows the same destination to reach different audiences without relying on a single promotional narrative.
Turning firsthand experiences into wider reach
The content generated through the programme is expected to highlight different aspects of Da Nang and the surrounding region, from culture and cuisine to beaches, resorts, sports and local life.
The strategy reflects a wider shift in tourism promotion as travelers increasingly discover and evaluate destinations through social platforms, creator recommendations and firsthand experiences.
For destination marketing, the value of content creators lies not simply in the number of followers they have, but in their ability to translate a place into stories that feel personal and relevant to specific audiences.
By putting international creators directly in the destination, Da Nang is moving beyond one-way tourism advertising toward a model in which visitors themselves become storytellers, helping the city reach new audiences through personal experiences and digital communities.
