Vietnam-Guangxi Business Forum opens in Hanoi
VOV.VN - Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Vice Chairman Doan Duy Khuong on March 7 delivered the keynote address kicking off a Vietnam-Guangxi Business Forum in Hanoi.
“China is the biggest trading partner of Vietnam,” said Vice Chairman Khuong noting Vietnam’s total combined commercial and services trade with its northern neighbour exceeded US$66 billion last year.
Official statistics show exports to China registered US$17 billion with the most significant exports comprised of products in the electronics, agricultural, seafood and coal categories.
Vietnam’s imports tallied in at US$49 billion, said Khuong. He said Vietnam last year imported significant amounts of machinery and equipment as well as raw materials and other intermediary goods related to the nation’s booming growth in manufacturing.
Meanwhile, Chinese businesses are increasingly investing more in Vietnam as well, having registered cumulative investment to date of more than US$10 billion in 1,300 ventures.
A representative from the Guangxi Trade Promotion Association in turn emphasized that the close geographic proximity creates favourable conditions for businesses from both sides to boost cooperation.
At the event, Guangxi business representatives shared information and sought cooperation opportunities in the fields of hotel, food processing, medical equipment and agriculture.
