Plans by the United States to ban Chinese cotton is unlikely to affect Vietnam’s garment and textile industry as a large portion of the materials the Southeast Asian nation imports come from the US.

Cotton Day Vietnam 2020 will take place virtually on September 22, gathering leading scholars from Vietnam and the US.

The Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) forecasts the country’s textile and garment exports will continue to decline by 14-18% each month for the rest of 2020 over the same period last year.
