Vietnam’s rice exports are unlikely to be significantly affected in the short term, Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang said at a meeting on September 11 with businesses and associations following reports that the Philippines and Indonesia had temporarily suspended rice imports from early September.

The AVAC Vietnam JSC exported its second batch of African swine fever (ASF) vaccine, AVAC ASF LIVE, comprising 340,000 doses, to the Philippines on September 8.

Despite a temporary halt in rice import from the Philippines, Vietnam’s rice exports are expected to exceed 8.2 million tonnes for the whole year, bolstered by rising shipments to such markets as Bangladesh, China, and South Africa.
