At least 80% of communes nationwide are expected to be recognised as new-style rural areas by 2025, according to the national target programme on new-style rural area building.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has recently signed a decision approving the national target programme on socio-economic development in ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas, with the first phase from now to 2025.

Over the last five years, more than 2.1 million households have sustainably escaped from poverty thanks to social policy credit, which is said to be an important pillar of the national target programme for sustainable poverty reduction.
