VOV.VN - Vietnam’s export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products set a record high of US$53.22 billion this year, representing an increase of 9.3% compared to 2021.

Vietnam and Venezuela have favourble conditions to bolster cooperation in fisheries, Vietnamese Ambassador Le Viet Duyen said at a recent forum.

Agro-forestry-fishery exports stood at about US$49.04 billion in the first 11 months of 2022, higher than last year’s record of US$48.6 billion, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) said.

Vietnam’s fishery export has completely recovered after the COVID-19 pandemic, reeling in US$10 billion as of November this year, said General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) Truong Dinh Hoe.

Vietnam’s fishery sector is preparing for the visit by an EC delegation at the end of this month, during which they will inspect the fight against illegal, unreported and undocumented (IUU) fishing in the Southeast Asian nation.

Total fishery output in the first nine months of this year is estimated at 6.75 million tonnes, up 2.7% from the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Despite numerous difficulties coming from the domestic and international situation, the agricultural sector has managed to achieve important targets, and it still persists in this year’s agro-forestry-fishery export target of US$50 billion as assigned by the Prime Minister.

Vietnam’s fishery export hit US$1 billion in May, up 27% year-on-year but down from the US$1.1 billion recorded in the previous month, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) reported.
