ASEAN economies, including Vietnam, are set to lead the recovery among emerging markets between 2025 and 2030, Juwai IQI’s chief economist Shan Saeed told the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)'s reporter on the sidelines of the Juwai IQI International Summit 2025 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on October 29.

After FTSE Russell officially upgraded Vietnam from a frontier to a secondary emerging market on October 8, international outlets namely Reuters, AFP, Financial Times, Bloomberg, Business Times, Channel News Asia, and Nikkei Asia reported it as “the strongest signal” of Vietnam’s rising position in financial map.

Vietnam’s first-ever inclusion by FTSE Russell in the list of Secondary Emerging Markets, alongside China, India, and Indonesia, represents a historic turning point and a new phase in the development of its stock market, according to Associate Professor Dr Ho Quoc Tuan from the University of Bristol (UK).
