Xuan Son returns to the pitch, ready for Asian Cup clash with Laos
VOV.VN - Vietnam striker Nguyen Xuan Son officially returned to the national team on November 11 for the first training session at Viet Tri Stadium ahead of the Asian Cup 2027 qualifier against Laos on November 18.
This marks the striker’s comeback after 10 months of recovery from a serious injury.
“This is a very special day. After months of recovery, I am thrilled to be back. I am ready to give 100% on the pitch,” said the striker, sharing his excitement.
He confirmed his fitness and mental readiness, leaving the final decision of playtime to head coach Kim Sang-sik.
Xuan Son received a warm welcome from teammates and coaching staff. Coach Kim Sang-sik personally greeted him, saying he had been waiting for Xuan Son’s return.
Xuan Son debuted for the Vietnam national team and delivered an outstanding performance in the 2024 ASEAN Cup, scoring 7 goals and playing a key role in Vietnam’s championship victory. Unfortunately, the striker sustained a serious injury and did not play alongside his teammates till the end of the tournament.
The Nam Dinh FC star is expected to be a key figure for Vietnam in major future competitions.
Vietnam will hold four more training sessions before traveling to Laos on November 15 for the Asian Cup clash.
