Vietnamese U23 squad ranks seventh at AFC U23 Asian Cup
VOV.VN - The national U23 football team came in seventh place at the AFC U23 Asian Cup after the end of their journey at the tournament following their defeat to Saudi Arabia.
The team ended the competition with a record of one win, two draws, and one defeat, thereby amassing five points.
Among the teams to be eliminated from the quarter-final stage, Vietnam’s U23 squad was ranked behind the Republic of Korea on seven points and Iraq on six points.
Elsewhere, both Thailand and Malaysia ranked ninth and 15th, respectively, after bowing out from the qualifying round.
The U23 team’s seventh place finished helped Vietnam enter the draw for the qualifying round of AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 as No.2 seeds, with the draw scheduled to take place in late 2023.
