Vietnamese players begin training in Incheon ahead of 2026 ASEAN Cup
VOV.VN - Vietnam's national football team arrived in Incheon, the Republic of Korea, on July 2 to begin a two-week training camp as part of preparations for the 2026 ASEAN Championship (ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026).
After more than a week of fitness and tactical training in Hanoi, head coach Kim Sang-sik and his squad have entered a crucial phase of their build-up. The training camp, which runs until July 14, will include intensive training sessions and three friendly matches aimed at improving match fitness, refining tactics and assessing the squad ahead of the regional tournament.
The team landed at Incheon International Airport at 4:35 p.m. (local time) and completed immigration procedures smoothly with support from the Vietnam Football Federation and local organisers.
Vietnam will play Siheung FC on July 5, Yongin FC on July 8 and Gangwon FC on July 13 in a series of progressively more challenging friendlies, providing the coaching staff with valuable opportunities to evaluate players and fine-tune the team's preparations.
Three players - Do Duy Manh, Khuat Van Khang and Le Ngoc Bao - travelled with the squad despite recovering from injuries. They will continue rehabilitation under the supervision of the team's medical staff while following individual training programmes.
Vietnam are scheduled to return home on July 14 before hosting Myanmar in a friendly in Thai Nguyen on July 18. The match will serve as the team's final warm-up before opening their ASEAN Cup title defence away to Timor-Leste on July 24.
