Vietnamese pickleball eyes more medals at PPA Tour Asia Shenzhen Open 2026

VOV.VN - Vietnamese pickleball is expected to win medals at the PPA Tour Asia Shenzhen Open 2026 after Truong Vinh Hien advanced to the men’s singles final, while Ho Thi Truc Tam and Sophia Huynh Tran reached the women’s doubles final.

Vietnamese players continued their strong run at the tournament by posting victories in the semi-finals, ensuring the country at least one more PPA Tour Asia medal at this stage.

In the men’s singles semi-final, Truong Vinh Hien defeated Adam Harvey 2-1 (11-8, 6-11, 11-3) to book his place in the final, where he will face Grayson Goldin for the title slated for August 23.

In the women’s doubles, Ho Thi Truc Tam and Sophia Huynh Tran secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Albie Huang and Yu Chieh Hsieh. The Vietnamese duo will battle Lingwei Kong and Selina Turulja for the championship.

If both Hien and the Truc Tam-Huynh Tran pair win their respective finals, Vietnam will claim two titles at the same PPA Tour Asia 2026 event for the first time.

Vietnamese players have enjoyed an impressive season on the PPA Tour Asia circuit. Ly Hoang Nam won the men’s singles title at the Hanoi Cup, while Truong Vinh Hien captured the men’s singles crown and Nguyen Hung Anh finished third at the Kuala Lumpur Open.

At the Macao Open, Ho Thi Truc Tam finished runner-up in both the women’s singles and women’s doubles. Truong Vinh Hien and Do Minh Quan then secured the men’s doubles title at the Beijing Open, while Sophia Huynh Tran took third place in the women’s doubles at the Tokyo Open.

Hien also finished runner-up at the Singapore Open. At the most recent stop, the Ho Chi Minh City Open, Hien and Minh Quan won the men’s doubles title, while Hien added a third-place finish in the men’s singles on home soil.

The final of the Shenzhen Open 2026 will be held on August 23 at the Bao’an Sports Centre in Shenzhen, China.
