Vietnamese athletes compete at Russian multi-aquatic friendship games

VOV.VN - Vietnamese swimmers have been given the opportunity to compete in a large-scale sporting event - the 2022 Friendship Games – which is underway in Russia featuring various diving and artistic swimming categories.

An opening ceremony for the competition was held at the Kazan Aquatic Sports Palace in Kazan on July 21 amid the presence of representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia.

The sporting contest consists of three stages, with the first getting underway from July 19 to July 26 and attracting the participation of 776 athletes from 11 countries from around the world. Nine Vietnamese athletes are competing in this stage.

A further two Vietnamese athletes are set to join the springboard diving competition in the second stage scheduled to take place from July 24 to July 30.

The third stage of synchronised swimming between July 28 and August 3 will see the participation of eight swimmers from Vietnam.

First held in 1984, the Friendship Games is attracting the participation of athletes from  49 countries and territories from the across the world.
