Vietnamese athlete wins gold medal in ASEAN Para Games weightlifting

VOV.VN - Local weightlifter Nguyen Van Hung brought home two gold medals at the ongoing 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia on June 6 morning.

In the men's 72kg class, after three attempts, he topped the podium with a total lift of 458kg to take the first gold medal. 

He was followed by Win San Aung of Myanmar with a total lift of 330kg.

Nguyen Van Hung’s best lift of 155kg was also the heaviest among the three competitors' result. He bagged the second gold medal for the best weightlifting performance of 155kg.

Phutachat Panomkhet of Thailand came second for his best lift of 132kg.

So far Vietnamese weightlifters including Le Van Cong in the men’s 49kg class, Nguyen Binh An in the men’s 54kg class, Dang Thi Linh Phuong in the women’s 50kg class, and Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan in the women’s 55kg class have pocketed 10 gold medals.

As of June 16 afternoon, Vietnam had total 105 medals including 31 golds, 28 silvers and 45 bronzes, ranking third in the medal tally.
