Vietnamese Army volleyball team defend ASEAN Open title
VOV.VN - The Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) volleyball team have successfully defended their title at the ASEAN Armies’ Open Volleyball Tournament 2026 after defeating Ho Chi Minh City Police 3-0 in the final on August 25.
The Vietnamese Army team won the final sets 25-18, 25-18 and 25-15, completing a dominant 82-minute performance at the 2026 tournament for military teams from ASEAN countries and invited participants.
They maintained control throughout the match, combining solid reception and setting with effective attacks to build leads and prevent Ho Chi Minh City Police from mounting a comeback.
After taking the first two sets by identical 25-18 margins, they continued to apply pressure in the third and closed out the match 25-15.
The victory secured the team’s second championship title at the tournament and confirmed its status as defending champions.
In addition to the team title, VPA player Nguyen Ngoc Thuan was named the tournament’s Best Spiker.
Tran Hoai Phuong of Ho Chi Minh City Police received the Best Setter award, while the Best Libero honour went to a player from Myanmar.
