Vietnam up to third in World Cup qualification group

VOV.VN -Following an impressive victory against Malaysia at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi on October 10, Vietnam have moved up to third in Group G of their World Cup 2022 qualification group.

Vietnam ranks third in Group G
The national team’s key man in attack, Nguyen Quang Hai, opened the scoring for Vietnam after volleying home a pass from captain Que Ngoc Hai in the 40th minute. Thanks to a strong defence for the rest of the game, the match concluded 1-0 in favour of the home side, leaving the national team with four points and ranked third in Group G.

At one point the victory over Malaysia had helped the Vietnamese national team climb to second place in the group. However, following the UAE’s 5-0 win over Indonesia two hours later, Vietnam dropped back down to third position.

Despite enjoying a hard-fought win, there is no time for the Vietnamese team to rest on their laurels, with the next fixture being an away tie against Indonesia which is scheduled to take place at 18:30 in Bali on October 15.
